TOMBSTONE – A TOUGH TOWN!

The Boothill Graveyard

Boothill Graveyard, established in 1878, was the main cemetery during Tombstone’s wild days. Many notable figures, including Billy Clanton and the McLaury brothers from the OK Corral shootout, are buried here.

Their grave marker reads “Murdered on the streets of Tombstone, 1881.”

The Tombstone Courthouse

Built in 1882, the Tombstone Courthouse served the town for fifty years. Before Arizona became a state in 1912, it was known for its quick justice. The courtyard scaffold saw many hangings, including five robbers at once in 1884. Now a State Historic Landmark, the Courthouse showcases Cochise County’s history with antiques and artifacts.

Big Nose Kate's Saloon

Built in 1881, this saloon was once the Grand Hotel of Tombstone. It hosted the Clantons and McLaurys before their OK Corral shootout with the Earps. Named after Doc Holliday’s girlfriend, Big Nose Kate’s is a great place to enjoy a cold beer and the Old West vibe, complete with music and memorabilia.

The Bird Cage Theatre

The Bird Cage Theatre, built in the 1880s, got its name from the 14 cages where “ladies of the evening” were displayed. Known as the “wickedest” nightclub in America, it was famous for gambling, liquor, and entertainment. Preserved since 1934, it displays original furnishings and the poker room frozen in time since 1889. Visitors often find the stories and haunting images fascinating.

The OK Corral

Visit the OK Corral, the site of the famous shootout between the Earps and the Cowboys on October 26, 1881. Daily reenactments bring this historic event to life with authentic details and memorable characters. Experience the excitement of the Wild West!
